Nutmeg, a little bit of this spice goes a long long way.
This spice needs to be used cautiously, if too much, it can make the dish inedible & sometimes even cause hallucinations (if oil content is high)!! Native to Indonesia, Nutmeg is in fact the seed found inside a fruit. It is surrounded by a mesh cover, which is a spice known as Mace.
This pungent smelling spice gives a warm, slight sweet taste to Milk based sauces & puddings, baked dishes & is used in Spice mixes for rich curries. It is also used for flavoring sausages, pies, cakes, cookies, coffee (golden latte), mulled wine & off course Eggnog!
